China discovers Swiss education, research and innovation

Presence Switzerland received a delegation of nine Chinese journalists from 21 to 27 February 2016 in the run-up to the President of the Swiss Confederation's visit to China. Mr Johann Schneider-Ammann was in China from 7 to 9 April.

The aim of the press journey was to draw attention to Swiss research, innovation and education – particularly Switzerland’s dual-track vocational education and training system.

The journalists visited research institutions, the federal institutes of technology, schools and businesses. They also met with different specialists and economic players throughout their stay.

Highlights from the journey can be seen on video: the delegation visiting the Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) where they were presented with different inventions, innovations and experiences, as well as the new SwissTech Convention Center and the Rolex Learning Center; a meeting at the Schindler company for a presentation of the dual vocational training system, and lastly a trip to snow-capped Mount Pilatus to illustrate Swiss innovation in the tourism sector.
