Paris 2016 WanderSwiss
June 10th to July 10th, 2016
It is a contemporary Switzerland, creative and proud of its natural environment that is on show in Paris for the duration of the Euro 2016 European Football Championship from 10 June to 10 July 2016.
An original Swiss presence in a strategic location: the Wanderlust. This open-air culture club looks out over the Seine and lights up the night sky in the heart of Paris’s old docks, nowadays a space devoted to fashion and design, just across from the Gare de Lyon. This essential cultural hotspot for Parisians is known for its unconventional green architecture and its attraction for families and young people alike.
Here House of Switzerland has created a pocket in space and time that we call ‘le Slow Foot’ – Slow Football. Connoisseurs of the great game can while away the hours and enjoy a host of sensory experiences. At the centre of the venue, a giant open-air screen broadcasts all of the matches live and a bar serves drinks and culinary specialities day and night. Switzerland’s nature and traditions occupies a central place as will design, contemporary art, the dramatic arts, music, cinema and food… A meeting point for all generations and all nations, this bubble in space and time created by House of Switzerland also aims to be a contemporary answer to our national saying ‘all for one and one for all’. Plus it offers visitors the luxury of taking time out of the ever frenetic atmosphere of the European Football Championship.
Art and amazing parties will of course be high on the agenda. The DJs of Silencio (club conceived by David Lynch) provides the evening and nightclub programme. Great names in design, entertainment and the performing arts reveals their savoir-faire over the various days and nights of House of Switzerland.
Geneva visual artist and icon of the contemporary art scene Sylvie Fleury worked in situ to create one of the most striking elements of the House of Switzerland. And many other leading Swiss cultural institutions, including the Festival del Film Locarno, Montreux Jazz Festival, Théâtre de Vidy, Théâtre de l’Arsenic, MUDAC, Montreux Comedy Club and the Salon du Livre de Genève, as well as the municipal authorities of Lausanne and Geneva are relocated for a while to Paris.
House of Switzerland aims to be an exceptional meeting point between France and Switzerland.
