Les Rencontres d’Arles 2017
July 3rd to September 24th, 2017
For three years already, Switzerland is partner of the Rencontres d’Arles, a unique opportunity to share, through images, Switzerland’s many faces and diverse culture. With pride and enthusiasm, Switzerland takes part in “les Rencontres photographiques d’Arles” with its artists, institutions, schools, festivals, publishers...and its nonante-neuf!
Located in the heart of the Rencontres d’Arles, nonante-neuf is a meeting space designed to encourage get-togethers and discussions on Switzerland and photography. This year, nonante-neuf is hosting, a unique installation, Better Worlds, produced by the photography department of the CEPV vocational training centre in Vevey and the Musée de l'Elysée and showcasing, in a genuine Swiss wood building, the work of a variety of photographers. Pro Helvetia, the Swiss foundation for culture, is holding a series of lectures and panel discussions at nonante-neuf talks within the Cosmos-Arles Books space.
As in the Swiss Rebels exhibition by Karlheinz Weinberger, this year’s Rencontres programme provides another close-up on the Swiss photography scene and its artists: Niels Ackermann and his hidden statues of Lenin, the Lausanne Outsider Art Collection and Dubuffet’s photography, along with photographers Ester Vonplon and Philippe Dudouit for the New Discovery Award.
The nonante-neuf is located at the Parc des Ateliers in Arles and opened from 10am to 7:30pm, until September 24th.
