The Swiss Business Hub and swissnex Brazil will transform the House of Switzerland Brazil 2016 into a collective “power house”, inviting HoS visitors and experts to learn about, present, debate, produce and save energy to reach a common goal.
During the whole day, several stations around the House of Switzerland will be open to the public, raising the attention about the 2.000 Watt society, proposed by ETH Zurich researchers. These interactive stations will enable every HoS visitor to be more aware about their own electricity consumption and will plant a seed about defining what electricity consumption cap would enable Cariocas to live comfortably, without negatively impacting the environment.
A closed workshop session will start at 13:30 which will, for the first time, bring together Swiss and Brazilian energy experts to present and debate the challenges of each country on integrating a high share of renewable intermittent sources (such as solar and wind) in their grids. Inspired by the “lake and mountains landscape” of the Baixo Suíça, which connects the two countries, the invited energy experts and panelists will discuss the opportunities of both countries on already having expertise of operating electricity grids with a high share of hydro power.
Starting at 18:00, a presentation session open to the public on the state of the art solutions in the field of energy, both from academia and from innovative startups will gather all HoS visitors to learn how these innovations could help Switzerland and Brazil in having a higher share of renewables in their grids.

How to face Urban Challenges of the 21st century?
Wednesday, August 10, 201613h30 - 17h30
Location : House of Switzerland
On August 10th, the House of Switzerland Brazil 2016 and swissnex Brazil will be hosting a discussion about Urban Solutions for the 21st century.
As the world's population keeps growing exponentially, millions of people are added to urban environments each year and there's no end in sight. Communities and cities have to start to build and rebuild differently, by using space in a more efficient way. To enable this growth in a sustainable way, we have to rethink our cities design!
Traditionally urban areas have been considered separately, creating individual urban pieces with different communities, stakeholders, and politicians.
To this date this has seemed to have at a rather costly oversight. Using a holistic view lets us recognize activities that might seem to be unrelated, but could be considered and executed simultaneously with significant reductions and overall improvement. But what are the priorities for these activities? How do you properly plan out the infrastructure improvements needed to benefit the communities and cities? With experts from different fields we are looking forward to create an engaging exchange of knowledge and contribute to the cities resilience!

Location : House of Switzerland
The swiss singer Bastian Baker - one of the most anticipated artists will be giving a live showcase at the Baixo Suíça!
Bastian Baker - our popstar from Switzerland, is one the most anticipated artists at the Baixo Suíça. As a resident of Villeneuve (in the State of Vaud), Bastian has had an out of ordinary career. After meeting Patrick Delarive at a birthday party, he threw his plans of pursuing a professional hockey career over board.
Delarive had the contacts, Bastian had the talent and together they’ve paved the start of their music career.
With only 19 years Bastian became a star over night by climbing up the charts with his first hit-single “Lucky”. In 2001 they’ve launched the album “Tomorrow May Not Be Better", which marked the public beginning of his career. Since then they’ve played on innumerous stages in Switzerland, France, Belgium and at well-established stages like the
Montreux Jazz Festival, the Paléo Festival (CH), Les Francofolies de La Rochelle and Olympia (F), Summer Sonic (J), and many more festivals. He’s won many prizes, just like the Swiss Music Award (5x!), two platinum albums, the MTV European Music Award, the World Music Award and many many more!

In collaboration with the University of St. Gallen, swissnex Brazil is supporting the third edition of this conference, which discusses the globalized business environment of sports and its legal implications.
This year our focus will be on the re-organization of Brazilian football and on how the momentum of Rio de Janeiro 2016 can be used to turn Rio into a cluster for international sports events. Furthermore, we address the combination of sports and education as well as entrepreneurship.
Various renowned national and international experts will enrich the conference giving speeches, acting as discussants or moderators of panel discussions. Most importantly, we will give plenty of room for discussion and create a superb platform for networking and insightful conversations. The entire conference will be simultaneously translated. Last but not least, the conference location, the House of Switzerland at the border of Rio’s famous Lagoon with a breathtaking view to Corcovado, is an attraction on its own.
